Mission

As the employees of the Athens County Department of Job & Family Services,
we have been charged with the most serious and important responsibility in government, that of helping our fellow citizens who experience the despair of poverty, hunger, homelessness, and ill health. We believe that our programs represent the conscience of society and that our strength lies in seeking a decent life for all.

Agency Employment

Our policy for applicants is to apply at the specific time of a job opening for a particular position.  We do not accept resumes & application materials without applying for a specific open position.

You must submit a SEPARATE application packet (application form, cover letter & resume and any other required materials) for each position applied for.

The IMW test and Entry Level test are two different tests and require separate application packets.   Core competency test scores for Income Maintenance Worker 3 (IMW3) and Entry Level positions are keep on file and considered for a 12 month period.

The Job Application form  (CLICK HERE for PDF)  is the document that will be used to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications for an open position with the agency.

You must show clearly, by experience or training that you meet the minimum qualifications for a particular position.

Please submit all required documents together as one package.

Materials may be submitted by mail, dropped off at our agency or electronically by email ( see details below).

To submit application applications by email:  Use the job title as your email subject line to help ensure your email does not get filtered as spam

Materials submitted by email should be in Word, WordPerfect, Works or PDF format.  Electronic applicants will get an email reply of confirmation within two business days.  All required materials must be received by the deadline, regardless of the reply email.

The ACJFS application form can NOT be completed online.  You may cut & paste the text into a new format such as Word, Works, WordPerfect, or PDF.

ALL required documents must be RECEIVED
by the stated deadline in the position announcement.

LATE  or incomplete materials will be REJECTED.
